Porcelanka is a formal metamorphosis of the Red Star – the Yugoslav national symbol; from flag to pungent.
red porcelain, 90 x 90 cm
National symbols occur less frequently targeted from above and more often as a spontaneous development. Many national symbols were initially a symbol of protest against the existing order, which became the symbol of victory of renewed political culture after the success of the protest. However, the targeted, deliberate attempt to create national symbols often fails. The deliberate transformation of the Red Star plays with the political reading of the symbol and places it in a context of objectivity.
